He had outstanding performances during the Ranji Trophy season of 2025–2026. With an economy rate of 2.77 and a strike rate of 38.23, Mishra claimed 59 wickets at an average of 17.69 over the course of eight games. Only Auqib Nabi had a higher total in the competition than him. On four occasions, he took five wickets in an innings; his best effort was six wickets for 84 runs. Despite these figures, Mishra was passed over for the Duleep Trophy, which caused him to consider his future professional path.
After taking 59 wickets in eight games, I didn’t find myself anywhere [in the Duleep Trophy or other squads], which made me believe that I simply needed to complete the process. I am limited to what I can do. You don’t give it much thought if you take 59 wickets in a season and don’t receive any credit or be chosen for anything. To be honest, I have no words to express how disappointed I am,” Mayank Mishra stated, as reported.
Mayank Mishra proved his worth against Tamil Nadu by bowling 37 overs and taking five wickets, including half-centurion B Indrajith and centurion Pradosh Ranjan Paul, demonstrating his ability to get rid of seasoned batsmen. With 184 wickets at an average of 23.35 in 43 games, Mishra has become Uttarakhand’s top wicket-taker during his first-class career.
Mayank Mishra’s regular club cricket stints in England have honed his ability to bowl for extended periods of time and keep control. He has become a top wicket-taker in English Premier League cricket over the past two seasons, proving the importance of exposure to other countries in honing his skills. About nine years ago, I was a coach at Sherwood College. because, at the time, we had no team [for Uttarakhand]. However, Mishra stated, “I wanted to try [becoming a professional cricketer] at least once more after we got the affiliation from the BCCI, and I succeeded [playing for Uttarakhand].
“I used to bowl a little bit faster through the air before. However, I also got to learn how to bowl slowly because I’ve been playing in the UK. That therefore benefits me in the domestic circuit as well. In the UK, I have also been doing well. I took the most wickets in the English Premier League during the previous two seasons. I simply want to take advantage of any opportunity I can. I’m prepared for it,” he continued.

Mayank Mishra has taken inspiration from well-known left-arm spinners, especially Daniel Vettori and Ravindra Jadeja. During Jadeja’s tour of England with the India team, he had the chance to speak with her in an effort to learn more about the traits of successful elite spinners. Daniel Vettori and Ravindra Jadeja are two of my idols. I had the opportunity to talk to Jadeja in England. I was curious about his long bowling spells, his level of fitness, and how he supports the team with both the bat and the ball.
Mayank Mishra stated, “I want to do the same thing for my team.”If both No. 6 and No. 7 are left-arm spinners and have the ability to bat as well. These conditions are ideal for left-arm spinners in Indian cricket, particularly when facing right-handers. Thus, in addition to bowling, Mishra and Suchith add significant value to our batting lineup,” stated Manish Jha, head coach of Uttarakhand.
