After suffering a right hip joint injury that prevented him from playing in the ODI tri-series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in the United Arab Emirates, veteran Bangladeshi Litton Das underwent medical evaluation. Prior to the forthcoming Test series against the West Indies, the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s medical department assessed the player and performed imaging to ascertain the extent of the damage.
Litton Das underwent medical evaluation
On Monday, October 19, Litton Das met with BCB doctors and received mild physical therapy at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The preliminary results from the diagnostic scans were verified by a member of the BCB medical committee.
“Yes, Litton Das visited us today. His scan report showed no serious problems, but there was a minor muscle problem. Today, we did some light physical therapy after seeing it [scan report]. A member of the BCB committee stated, “We will also do a light physiotherapy session tomorrow, and after two days we will be able to say where he stands, as far as his injury is concerned.”
“We are optimistic that he will be able to play in the Test series against the West Indies, but we can’t make any firm statements until we see how he develops over the next few days. However, as far as his hip joint is concerned, there is nothing right now,” he continued.
During the one-time Test match in Abu Dhabi against Afghanistan, spinner Nayeem Hasan strained his right hamstring while fielding. He had to play with strapping for the fourth and fifth days of the match after his foot caught on the heavy outfield while diving to save a boundary off Taijul Islam’s bowling. Nayeem was able to finish the test without any major issues despite the injury.
The BCB medical staff cautioned that running at a high speed while braking quickly could result in a more severe tear. Nayeem was asked not to play in the current National Cricket League round and was put on a structured rehabilitation program. Nonetheless, the spinner’s recuperation has been going well.

“There was nothing seriously wrong with the scan. That kind of injury is not serious. On October 22, he will go through a formal fitness test, the official stated.
The off-spinner remarked, “I started bowling today and didn’t feel any discomfort. I’m looking forward to the scheduled fitness to get clearance from the medical team.”
The West Indies team started training at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, October 20, after arriving in Dhaka on Sunday, October 18. Starting on October 22, a two-day warm-up match against BCB XI was held in Basundhara. The first Test started on October 28 in Dhaka, and the second Test is set to begin on November 5 in Sylhet.
