Lauren Bell, an England right-arm seamer, has signed with the Sydney Thunder for the 2026 Women’s Big Bash League season. On October 12, 2026, it was announced that Bell would be available for the duration of the campaign.
Lauren Bell, who played for the Thunder during the 2023–2024 campaign, is back. Phoebe Litchfield will captain the Sydney-based team, and she will join fellow England international Heather Knight. The signing was welcomed by Lisa Keightley, head coach of the Sydney Thunder. We are thrilled to have Lauren back at the Thunder this season because she is a world-class bowler. We’ve witnessed her exceptional abilities.
She can take wickets with the new ball, but her ability to affect a game at various points during an innings is what truly sticks out. Although she is still only 25 years old and is still honing her craft, she brings a wealth of experience to our group. She puts in a lot of effort, is constantly trying to improve, and will blend in perfectly with the culture we’re creating. In an official statement, Keightley stated, “Having Lauren available for the entire season is a huge boost for us, and we believe she can play a really important role in what we want to achieve this year.”
In the months preceding the season, Bell has a solid record in franchise cricket when he joins the Thunder. She demonstrated her ability to perform consistently in high-pressure T20 environments by taking 12 wickets for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in WPL 2026.
Lauren Bell played with Georgia Voll, an opener for the Sydney Thunder, during the WPL 2026 season in India. Bell’s performances in that match demonstrated her worth as a front-line pace option who can contribute at various stages of a Twenty20 innings.
Regarding joining the Thunder, what did Lauren Bell say?
Lauren Bell has expressed her excitement about rejoining the Thunder and is acquainted with the team’s surroundings from her previous tenure. Georgia Voll, with whom she shared the WPL 2026 experience at Royal Challengers Bengaluru, will reconnect with her.I’m excited to start hanging out with the girls because I adore Sydney, the group, and the exciting new members that have joined since I last visited. As a cricket player, I think I will improve by competing against the world’s top players in the WBBL, which boasts the greatest talent.

It will be nice to have Phoebe [Litchfield] on my side now and watch her score runs, even though I’ve obviously played against her a lot and we seem to have pretty good battles. I had the good fortune to play with Volly [Georgia Voll] in India, and I can’t wait to do it again in Sydney. She is incredibly entertaining and talented. Since I was last with Thunder, my cricket experience has increased and playing for England has undoubtedly helped me better understand my own game. Bell stated, “I hope I can bring that winning mentality to this group.”
