The joint IPL review meeting scheduled for October 15, 2026, at the Taj Santacruz in Mumbai has been postponed by the Indian cricket board. IPL franchise owners, chief executives, broadcasters, and representatives from the 13 state associations that host IPL matches nationwide were gathered for the event, which is set to start at 6 p.m.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia sent out a postponement notification via email on Tuesday nite, October 13, 2026. The correspondence verified that the meeting was postponed indefinitely because no new date or location had been set at the time of the announcement. This is to notify you that the IPL Franchise Owners, CEOs, IPL Hosting State Associations, and Broadcasters meeting that was supposed to take place in Mumbai on October 15, 2026, has been rescheduled.
“On October 15, 2026, in New Delhi, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India is scheduled to congratulate the Indian men’s and women’s teams on their exceptional performances at the just concluded 20th Asian Games. BCCI officials will therefore have to be present at the felicitation ceremony, according to Saikia, who was cited.
There were two reasons for the deferral in Saikia’s email. First, on October 15, 2026, in New Delhi, the Indian Prime Minister will congratulate the Indian men’s and women’s teams on their performances at the just finished Asian Games. BCCI officials must attend the ceremony. Second, a number of interested parties requested a postponement in writing. In addition, a number of stakeholders have requested that the meeting be rescheduled. In light of the aforementioned, it has been determined to postpone the meeting in order to maximize in-person participation. In due course, the new date and location will be announced,” Saikia wrote.
On October 15, 2026, in New Delhi, the Prime Minister will congratulate the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams on their exceptional performances at the just finished 20th Asian Games. It is not possible for BCCI officials to host the IPL conclave in Mumbai on the same day since they must attend the ceremony.
Additionally, the timing falls during a busy time in the global calendar. The fourth match of India’s five-match Twenty20 International series against the West Indies is set for October 14, 2026, in Hyderabad. After attending the felicitation in New Delhi on October 15, the players will travel to Bengaluru for the fifth and final Twenty20 International on October 17, 2026.
What does the IPL meeting’s postponement mean?
With the IPL getting ready to start its historic 20th season in 2027, the conclave had been called at a very significant time. The amount of preparation needed in advance of that historic edition is highlighted by bringing franchise owners, broadcasters, and all 13 hosting state associations together for a collaborative review.

Stakeholders from franchises, broadcasters, and state associations will have to wait for a new schedule from the BCCI as there hasn’t been a revised date announced yet. Saikia’s email gave everyone the assurance that the new date and location would be announced eventually, but it didn’t include a deadline.
