Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun, who is currently coaching the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League, has vehemently defended India’s youthful pace unit in the face of recent criticism. On flat pitches, the improvised Indian bowling attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah faltered against Shai Hope’s potent, in-form West Indies batting unit. With the exception of Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh, the pace unit’s lack of experience throughout the white-ball series led observers to characterize the bowling as ineffective.

Bharat Arun has strongly defended India’s young pace recent criticism

Bharat Arun disagreed, pointing out that in the third Twenty20 International against the West Indies, the Indian bowling unit successfully defended a total on a flat field with short boundaries. He emphasized that it would be unfair to write off the current generation of bowlers without acknowledging their potential and the challenges they faced. If you look at the Indian pace attack as a whole, I think it looks pretty good. The combination is all that matters. when a bowler joins the squad. The entire bowling attack changes completely when someone with experience like Bumrah joins the team.

One of the most frequently asked questions during their tryouts is whether or not bowlers are gaining experience under various conditions. Yes, getting hit by a bowler is acceptable. It’s acceptable to fail in sports. However, I view failure as an opportunity to learn how to reinvent myself. Therefore, I believe that is excellent preparation for the big event if that is going to be the case, if the bowler will recognize where he stands, and if he is going to reinvent himself. During a conversation set up by Sony Sports Network, Bharat Arun saying, “And I hope the team management is doing just that.”

Bharat Arun emphasized how the attack’s composition and efficacy are drastically altered when seasoned bowlers like Bumrah are absent. He emphasized that setbacks should be seen as learning opportunities rather than failures and that young bowlers naturally acquire experience through a variety of situations. Although an experienced group is still available, heavy rotation has been required due to workload management and fixture congestion. Four pacers have recently made their debuts.

Bharat Arun added that there are plenty of young bowlers in India who can swing the ball; it is up to the team management and selectors to find and develop those skills. On October 22, the T20I series in New Zealand gets underway, giving the young Indian pace unit a chance to put what they’ve learned to use and show off their skills on a new platform.

Bharat Arun discussed how the Men in Blue’s recent tour of England, during which they lost both the ODI and T20I series, influenced the team’s strategy for the conditions in New Zealand. With their primarily pace attack, New Zealand may be learning from India’s performance in England. Additionally, this Indian team is learning about the conditions that were common in England. They will be considering how they could have made better use of the circumstances than they did in England.

Then a really, really good battle will take place there. These days, I believe these teams pick things up quite quickly,” Bharat Arun remarked. Understanding various conditions and adjusting to them will be the largest challenge for any team. Indeed, this Indian team had an experience in England. However, you can’t dismiss them simply because their time in England wasn’t particularly successful. He continued, “They can use that same experience to perform better elsewhere.
